Great video! But I just can’t get over a good looking dog in the white slippers😅
Thank you - that's Lily. She's pretty amazing :-)
Seems like I always throw across my body and ends up going to the left . I’m a right hand thrower . What technique or drill can I do to position my body to throw straight . Started 3 months ago and my PPR is 6.36 , I want to improve that .
I'd say start by paying more attention to where your arm swings going back - it's probably out away from you a bit too much. Similar to bowling, when your arm swings out away from the body you tend to pull it. Otherwise, aim your chest more to the right (if you're right-handed) when you set up. Which foot do you put forward?
@@Joe2Jock , my left foot is forward. I guess it’s because of playing horseshoes and feeling more comfortable throwing in that position.
@@adamcampos4232 I throw left foot forward as well. When I have trouble missing left I turn my front foot more to the right, aim my shoulders more right, swing my arm back a little more behind me, and try to make sure I'm not gripping the bag too tight - or some combination of any of those things. Maybe one of those will help. The shoulder alignment alone should affect the arm swing back in a good way for your issue.
Very good information.
I just play with my buddy with no hands. I spot him to 20 and i win almost everytime...😎
Question, bag hits another bag knocks it in the hole, is that 3 points?
Yes, 3 points for the bag that got knocked in.
Hello, I just started Dart and I've been trying to play with my own efforts for about 4 months, I want to buy a good set and I like the MGV Exact and Aspire series. But I'm undecided about the weight, there are those who tell me to take a light 21g 22g. For those who say 23G would be more standard. What do you recommend the set 24G that I am currently using? I've been trying to experience it for a few months already. I used 24*25*26 darts and also had the chance to experience 23g. But the darts I use are more torpedo shaped. I didn't have the chance to try straight darts. I work alone and mostly watch pro players on the internet and try to create an ideal shot and grip for myself. But people around me think that trying so much weight will ruin the shot. And they think it would be beneficial to stay at a constant weight. I also tried the light dart sets of the people where I play, 22g seemed comfortable to me, 23g was comfortable. I want to have a good set or two. I liked MGV's Exact and Aspire darts and the grip felt nice to me. I didn't know if I should take 21.5g or 23g. I thought about buying the aspirated one in 22g. I need professional opinion. After all, it is not a cheap set that I will buy for my economic conditions
I honestly don't have a strong opinion on dart weight. I know the ones I throw the best are around the 22-23gr weight though.
If the blue team throws a bag into the hole and the orange team has three bags that land on the board, then they cancel each other out, correct? No points?
Correct! In that scenario each team has 3 points on the board or in the hole - net result: zero points.
Thank you. @@Joe2Jock
Which BG bags are you using? I just ordered some Sorcerers. Hopefully they are good at setting up blocks.
I have Tailgators. They've been great. I use some Ultra Vipers most of the time now, but I still like the BGs a lot!
If a team throws first do they always throw first throughout the whole game?
No, whichever team / player scores points throwing one direction will throw first the next throw. So if Team A player throws to start the game, but Team B scores 3 points after the first 4 bags then Team B will throw first back the other direction. If Team B continues scoring and is ahead 15-3, but Team A scores 1 point throwing one direction then Team A would throw first the other direction even though they're losing 15-4 at that point. Hope that helps!
Thanks for the great tips
Glad they helped!
Ghost at 14:15 runs across the wall behind him!
Iv not played B4 but am fixing to next sat I have how ever played lotsa horse shoes🤔 this can't be to much different I wouldn't think but who knows 😂
Awesome pointers
Awesome Thank you
Thank you man. You actually explained the technique in a helpful way
We just count every bag as points . Keep the game short and fun . 4 bagger ends the game . Two for leaning over the hole 1 for on the board . Players with less power count a bounced bag on the board
What about scoring properly?
I just happen to have a whole video on scoring :-). ua-cam.com/video/H2CrJlCl2P0/v-deo.html
After playing shoes and washers most of my life I kept zinging those bags like nothing, learning a soft toss approach has been quite the feat.
Totally new to cornhole. When I went to purchase boards and bags, I noticed there are different sizes of boards???? What is the correct size board, and is there a "regulation' size and weight bag? THANKS
If you want regulation boards, which is all I'd buy unless I wanted a small set for car camping or something, they should be 2ft wide by 4ft long. 12" high in the back and about 4" at front edge. Bags are 1lb exactly.
@@Joe2Jock THANKS!!!
I have 16 players and only two boards. How do we play a tournament?
I wouldn't do traditional scoring with that many players and only two boards. Do you mean two SETS of boards (so four boards) or literally only two boards? I would set up a double elimination bracket for 16 people (can google and find online easily) and play games to 21 where each player gets whatever they throw for each round. So if one player gets two bags on and one in (5) and the other player gets three bags on (3) the score is 5-3 instead of 2-0. Does that make sense? That will keep the games moving along quickly enough. You'll only have 8 games to determine the winners / losers bracket and it could all be done relatively quickly.
@@Joe2Jock only 2 boards total. We have never played before and we are seniors. Your scoring sounds like it might work and move the games along. But still only two players at a time right? So 8 teams of 2. Sorry but thanks so much for your help.
@@bba.by.marilyn If you're doing two person teams then you'd only need an 8 team double elimination and it will go much faster. I was thinking it was an individual tournament. So with teams of two - one partner at each end on the same side of the boards (one partner is on the right side as he/she looks at the far end and one is on the left side), the team that scored the most points in the previous round would throw first, and players always alternate throws. Team with most points in previous round throws one, then the other team, etc.
@@Joe2Jock So now I have 20 people. Will play 2 people at each end. Team A one on each end and Team B same bur on other side of the boards. Is that right? Player A1 will throw green, then Player B1 will throw, once they add the score then it will be Team A2 throws green and then Team B2 will throw blue then add up the score. So 4 people always playing.. ?? s
@@bba.by.marilyn That's correct - you got it!
21 exactly, go over, back to 0
I'm sorry but something this heavy doesn't move around in the air enough to matter. But it is a southern game and they come up with all kinds of crazy ideas behind why something happens.
I think you need a physics lesson. Play outdoors in any amount of breeze or wind and tell me it doesn't move in the air if you don't throw it flat with spin. How much does a 4x4 3/4" piece of plywood weigh? Does it move in the air if it's thrown at an angle?
@@steveatherton5812 Southern physics isn't real physics. There is absolutely no movement in the air over 27 feet with a 16oz bag. The only factor that does matter is spin so it lays flat.
Why do people need this much info on how to throw a tiny bag?
Thanks ✌️
Joe, you explained that very very well, way better than other videos I've seen on youtube, Thanks
Thanks Richard!
I have always wanted to play Cornhole, but I have heard that it's EXTREMELY DANGEROUS! 🥺
Can you show a close up on how to hold the bag
Those bean bags look red to me since it’s often considered the opposite of blue
Very well could be. I'm quite color blind LOL
We loved this video! Lots of helpful tips which made us quickly better!
Thank you! Glad it helped.
Love the doggie assist.
Scroll down for people arguing amongst themselves. Very entertaining.
I love this game
According to the cornhole association as long as it lands on the board it's a point even if it bounced on. Anything touching the ground doesn't count. Moving bags before the inning is over is a foul.
No, definitely not E.T. I'm curious where you saw that? Yes, a player moving the bags before the round is over is a foul in a tournament, but a bag that hits the ground or anything else before coming to rest on the board is absolutely removed and does not count. In tournaments an official would do it, but for casual play the players should just remove it. ACL official rules, scoring section iv, point 2: "2. Bags that touched the ground or any other surface before touching the board or going into the hole are valued at 0 points and must be removed from the board by an official. a. If this bag causes other bags on the board to move, the final resting places of the bags in play will count." mysqlvm.blob.core.windows.net/acl-docs/ACL-Rules-Regs-2019-2020.pdf
I Love playing cornhole game Christina and Regina practice for championship
Thank you sir for your videos. I appreciates you.
8 foot is the distance for soft tip darts. 7 foot 91/4 inches for steel tip.
Yeah I realized that after some previous comments. I corrected it in a second video and in the description. My mistake.
Thanks for the comment. I’m new and just set up my practice place using the 7’-9 1/4”. I liked his eve discussion. A nice video.

Is this a bike park?
Not really. It's a normal blue trail at Vail. There aren't really any purpose built jumps or features. Just a long, fun trail.
@@Joe2Jock is it worth checking out when I visit Colorado?
@@offdaystv for sure! Vail mtn has probably 10 really fun tuns and you can purchase a one day bike haul pass so you can ride the gondola up and just do downhill laps. And there are lots of other fun trails in the Vail area!
So if a team goes over 21 and has 2 bags left can that team still score points with those 2 bags or is the turn over?
That team can keep piling on points so that the other team can't catch them. Remember there is no land on 21 rule, and it's the first to 21 or more at the END of a round, meaning when all bags have been thrown.
Great video for beginners, thanks. Like your boards too!
Thanks Tony! Made them many years ago. Nothing fancy, but just used some painters tape to mask off the arrows and two colors of stain before the top coats. Pretty easy!
@@Joe2Jock I’m really new at this. Looking for boards and trying to decide which brand of bags would be best. Any recommendations? Thanks, Tony
@@tonym3995 Oh man - bags are SO much personal choice. Depends a lot on your style of play - do you slide and like them to "drip" and play fast, or do you like them chunky and sticky etc. Personally I play with Ultra Vipers and Black Widows, but there are so many good ones out there. Reynolds, Game Changers, etc. Unfortunately it's hard to find them to try out unless you try a buddies at league or something. You can find the official boards at shop.iplayacl.com and westgeorgiacornhole.com has some good options!
@@Joe2Jock Thanks again for all the helpful information.
Thank you 👍
What happens if you throw a bag it bounces off ground and still manages to get on board slides up board and knocked a bag in the hole, would someone still get the point for the other bag that got knocked in?
Great question. I'd have to go look at the official rules, but I'm 99% sure you'd replace the bag that got knocked in and it would not count. By the same token if the bag that hit the ground ended up knocking an opponents bag off the board they should not be penalized for the bad bag.
😂 who was that?!!😂 Boo you suck 😂😂😂 I didn't expect that 😂😂😂
the best demonstration ever. I have used your technique as a beginner and winning games!
Thank you! Glad it's working :-)
who the heck plays 301? Standard game is 501, and 170 is the best warmup game there is.
and NEVER plan to leave a double that's half is odd...man this is actually pretty painful to watch as a league player.
@@lisawilson4669 OK let me ask you a few questions. Have you ever seen 301 on an electronic board in a bar? I have. Does every person who plays darts play 501? No. How many beginner dart players are league players? Not many. Do you think it's important for a beginner dart player to learn skills of hitting precise numbers and doing drills to improve their throw? Of course. I never said "if you want to play league 501 this is how you play". I made up my own drills to help learn some skills of throwing darts. It is pretty obvious that I don't play in league and don't play 501 very often. I do, however, beat most people I play darts against. I also beat most people I play in most sports, yet elite players would probably find fault with something I do in every one of them. My point is, I'm trying to help people get better. And I will guarantee you that if any beginner watches any of my videos and tries any of my suggestions they will get better. If you're a league player, why on earth are you watching a "Darts Technique and Drills for BEGINNERS" video? Is it my finest video? No. Will it help some people? The comments show it has. Could it be better? Absolutely. In fact comments like yours made me make another one with better information.
You made a great video with the knowledge you have. You are a multisport athlete. I wouldn't expect a decathlon athlete for example to beat Usain Bolt in the 100m, but they can still be fast as hell.
@@Scolecite Thank you - that's the goal of my page. I learned a lot that I didn't know from the comments on the video, and I'll keep trying to help people improve at all sports and make better videos!
I don't step. Less moving parts the less can go wrong
Thanks for your tutorial its very good, real and informative, I will use these to better my skills thank you sir
Thanks - much appreciated!
Excellent video my friend. Iam an English dart snob but your tips are by far better then any ive seen. Thank you
Thank you - glad you found it helpful! I'm definitely no dart expert - lots to learn but I think it can help newer darters work on their skills.
Hey man it’s ok to show how tired you are in the 50 yard pump section! I’m a local in vail and it’s gets me every time I hit them!😂
Haha!!! It's a leg burner for sure! I have so much fun on that trail every time. I live here full time now as well - if you ever want to ride let me know!
Another Communist gaslighting fake game?
Talk about when to use slick or sticky side
Few scenarios for me at least. One is, for the board slickness I'm playing, which side let's me throw my normal throw and make bags without flying off or coming up short. Two is if I need to set up blockers I'll throw sticky, or if I'm trying to go airmail I'll throw sticky so it has a chance to stay on the back if I miss. And I always prefer slick side for normal throws if I can because the bag will drip into the hole better on the slick side.
